Last updated: April 1, 2026

1.Acceptance of Terms

By using FabricIQ (the "Service"), including our website, mobile application, and browser extension, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2.Description of Service

FabricIQ provides fabric composition analysis, material quality ratings, care instruction decoding, sustainability scoring, health information, and brand analytics. The Service is provided for informational purposes to help consumers make informed clothing decisions.

3.Accuracy of Information

While we strive to provide accurate material data and care recommendations, FabricIQ is an informational tool. We do not guarantee that our ratings, scores, or care instructions are error-free. Always check the manufacturer's care label for definitive instructions.

  • Material scores are based on general properties and may vary by manufacturer
  • Care recommendations are guidelines, not guarantees
  • Sustainability ratings are based on publicly available data
  • Health information is sourced from published research and is not medical advice

4.User Contributions

When you submit product data (barcode scans, fabric compositions, care symbols), you grant FabricIQ a non-exclusive, worldwide license to use this data to improve the Service. Contributed data may be shared with other users as part of the product database.

5.Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download any part of FabricIQ's database, including material scores, product data, brand analytics, or scoring algorithms
  • Use automated tools (bots, scripts, scrapers) to access the Service beyond normal browser usage
  • Reproduce, redistribute, sell, license, or create derivative works from FabricIQ's proprietary database or scoring data
  • Submit intentionally false or misleading product data
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the scoring algorithms, material database structure, or any proprietary logic
  • Circumvent rate limits, access controls, or other technical protections
  • Interfere with the operation of the Service

The underlying factual properties of materials (e.g., "cotton is biodegradable") are not copyrightable. However, our specific numerical scores, rankings, editorial assessments, and the organized collection of this data as a database are protected.

FabricIQ's database contains technical measures to detect unauthorized copying, including canary entries. Unauthorized reproduction will be pursued under applicable law.

7.DMCA & Takedown Policy

FabricIQ respects intellectual property rights. If you believe your copyrighted work has been used on our platform without authorization, please send a DMCA takedown notice to dmca@getfabriciq.com with:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work
  • Identification of the infringing material and its location on our Service
  • Your contact information
  • A statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate
  • Your physical or electronic signature

If you discover unauthorized copies of FabricIQ's proprietary data on third-party services, please report it to dmca@getfabriciq.com.

8.API Terms of Use

The FabricIQ API (/api/*) is provided for evaluation and personal use. We want developers to explore our data, but commercial use requires a written license agreement.

  • Rate limits: 60 requests per minute for the free tier. Exceeding this will result in temporary throttling.
  • No reselling, sublicensing, or redistribution of API data without prior written permission from FabricIQ.
  • API data may not be used to build, train, or enhance a competing product or service.
  • FabricIQ reserves the right to revoke API access at any time, with or without cause.
  • Attribution required when displaying scores publicly: "Data provided by FabricIQ (getfabriciq.com)".
  • Commercial use, bulk access, or integration into third-party products requires a license — contact licensing@getfabriciq.com.

9.Data Licensing

All product scores, material data, brand analytics, and derived insights are proprietary to FabricIQ. Here's how different use cases are handled:

Viewing scores on getfabriciq.com, the mobile app, and the Chrome extension is always free.

For commercial licensing inquiries, reach out to licensing@getfabriciq.com.

Data accuracy disclaimer: All scores are algorithmic estimates based on general material properties, not guarantees of specific product quality. Always verify with the manufacturer.

10.Intellectual Property

FabricIQ's name, logo, scoring system, and brand intelligence data are proprietary. Our work represents significant creative and research effort, and we take protection seriously.

  • The 7-axis scoring methodology, category weighting system, and curated material database are trade secrets.
  • Users may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the scoring algorithm or its underlying logic.
  • User-submitted data (including Chrome extension crowdsourced scans) grants FabricIQ a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, process, display, and incorporate the data into the Service.
  • All text, guides, educational content, UI designs, and visual elements are copyrighted.

11.Scraping & Data Collection

FabricIQ collects publicly available product composition data from brand websites to power our database. We believe in being transparent about how we gather information.

  • All collected data is factual product information — material compositions, care labels, and product metadata.
  • FabricIQ does not access restricted areas, bypass authentication, or collect personal data from brand sites.
  • We respect robots.txt directives and rate-limit our collection to avoid impacting site performance.
  • If a brand wishes to be excluded from our database, please contact legal@getfabriciq.com.

12.Limitation of Liability

FabricIQ is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages resulting from your use of the Service, including but not limited to damage to clothing from following care recommendations or health decisions based on our educational content.

13.Enforcement & Remedies

Violation of these Terms, particularly the data protection provisions in Sections 5, 6, and 8, may result in:

  • Immediate termination of access to the Service
  • Permanent IP and account bans
  • Legal action for damages, including statutory damages under the DMCA and Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA)
  • Injunctive relief to prevent continued unauthorized use

14.Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
